- Sirius Black III (1959 - 18 June, 1996), also known by his nickname Padfoot, was a pure-blood wizard, son of Orion and Walburga Black
- Sirius Black's parents, Orion & Walburga, were both Blacks by birth. Orion & Walburga's grandparents were brothers.

He gave the Horcrux to his House Elf, Kreacher. Due to the fact that Kreacher's magic differs from human magic, and the fact that Voldemort didn't consider that an Elf would be able to enter the Cave in the first place, Kreacher was able to apparate out of the Cave, and was tasked with keeping the Locket safe by R.A.B.
