What You Need To Know About Sirius Black

  • Sirius Black III (1959 - 18 June, 1996), also known by his nickname Padfoot, was a pure-blood wizard, son of Orion and Walburga Black
  • Sirius Black's parents, Orion & Walburga, were both Blacks by birth. Orion & Walburga's grandparents were brothers.
  • Sirius Black never knew the reason his brother (Regulus) died. Regulus was killed by the Inferi guarding one of Voldemort's Horcruxes
  • Sirius is a traditional Black family name, recurring in at least three generations. Means that our Sirius Black is Sirius Black III.
  • When he was at Hogwarts, Sirius, along with James, was immensely popular.
  • Around 1977, Sirius and James were involved in a motorbike chase with two policemen (shown in Harry Potter Prequel).
  • Sirius attended James' wedding to Lily Evans as best man.
  • During Voldemort's glory, Sirius never trusted Lupin, suspecting he was a spy. He trusted Pettigrew instead.
  • The direct line of the ancient Black family ended with Sirius' death.
  • Harry gave his first son, James, the middle name Sirius to honour his godfather.
  • The name "Sirius Black" is a pun on his Animagus form of a black dog, as the star Sirius is known as the Dog Star.

  • When Sirius returned in GoF, JKR initially had him stay with an old witch on the edge of Hogsmeade, named Mopsy The Dog Lover.
  • In JKR's opening draft, there was a character named Pyrites as a servant of Voldemort. He was meeting Sirius in front of the Potters' house.
  • Sirius was the only guest who attend Harry Potter's christening.
  • Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky.
  • Rowling described Sirius as a bit of a loose cannon and a case of arrested development.
  • Rowling also described Sirius as brave, loyal, reckless, embittered and slightly unbalanced by his long stay in Azkaban.

    >> So that's how R.A.B. died. Hmmm, if he was killed by the Inferi in the cave, how did the real Horcrux got into the Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place then?

    1. He gave the Horcrux to his House Elf, Kreacher. Due to the fact that Kreacher's magic differs from human magic, and the fact that Voldemort didn't consider that an Elf would be able to enter the Cave in the first place, Kreacher was able to apparate out of the Cave, and was tasked with keeping the Locket safe by R.A.B.
